SHRAPNEL

We are beyond excited to share Solitarius Lupus, a narrative short film we developed, wrote, and produced, set in a world inspired by SHRAPNEL, an upcoming Extraction FPS game by NEON MACHINE. It’s the first live-action installation made in the SHRAPNEL world.

NEON MACHINE asked us to create our own interpretation of a story set in a corner of their world. This is the story we told. SHRAPNEL: Solitarius Lupus follows a lone wolf living on the outskirts of society using their ill-gained paramilitary knowledge to make a living in the only way they know how in a harsh world run by Sigma.

The film was an entirely local production, and our crew pulled out all the stops for this one. We shot on location and built out as much of the production design as we could practically (shout out to our art team) , giving the whole film a tactile, lived-in feel.

CASE STUDY

NEON Machine, a gaming company spun out from HBO, staked their claim as creators of the first AAA crypto-powered FPS game built on blockchain.

The problem? The game wouldn’t be released for two years. In the meantime, NEON Machine needs to rapidly build and engage an audience to steer the development and buy into their digital products.

The answer? A transmedia connected universe of stories. While NEON Machine worked on developing comics, NFTs, and skin drops; All is Well developed, wrote, and produced a live-action pilot episode introducing audiences to the rich world of SHRAPNEL.

We were challenged with developing creative alongside a quickly moving, iteration heavy game development schedule and tasked with creating a story that could hold the pivots and surprises of a world still in development. This film was made with the following three goals: introduce the world, introduce our characters, and set up the beginning of a story that could both stand alone as a game trailer and continue for several more episodes.

SHRAPNEL: Solitarius Lupus did just that.
