All is Well in 2019
It’s hard to believe that 2019 is at an end. We’ve been reminiscing about everything that’s happened and it’s been quite a ride.
To start, we won… a lot of awards…
All is Well took home Best of Show at the Addy’s last year, among Judge’s Awards and awards for copywriting, a Telly, an audience award, and a film grant to make a claw… which we’ll get to later…
Then we went and built a series…
We finished an entire season of a TV show with AWS called Now Go Build! The show stars AWS’ CTO, Dr. Werner Voegels, and was filmed across 8 countries and 4 continents. The show was featured on Business Insider where host and executive producer Dr. Voegels stated Now Go Build’s larger mission, “Giving these startups a platform for them to demonstrate to the world that technology is not just about the cool social media kind of things, but is solving really difficult human problems.”
You can watch the full season online on your TV, laptop, or however you watch your shows now on Amazon Prime.
We made a claw… and a film…
Continuing our mission of original content, we produced the short film, The Claw. Which celebrated Seattle, music, and “no small amount of Cronenbergian body horror” according to Film Independent’s coverage of an LA screening. Made from the Seattle Story Award granted to All is Well’s Creative Director Lael Rogers, The Claw was made in partnership with All is Well, Film Independent, and Visit Seattle. The film premiered in New York, New York at the DGA Theater and was covered by Rolling Stone.
The Claw was selected as a Vimeo Staff Pick and is currently entering its film festival run in 2020.
We made it snow!
We built sets and models and used forced perspective and played with all the movie magic that we love to play with including some fantastic actors. We partnered with Jesse McGarrah out of Austin to tell the story of the first Christmas tree and the first Christmas stocking. Starring the inimitable Russel Hodgkinson, Shaianna Grendell and Bahma Roget.
We made it snow… again…
We’ve been very fortunate with the clients we’ve attracted. It’s pretty easy to feel good about helping kids without coats get coats for the winter. We partnered with Green Rubino to get the word out about Columbia Bank’s coat and blanket drive. Staying warm in the winter is nothing to take for granted.
We jammed with a BUNCH of musicians…
We continued our long term relationship with Universal Audio, and the romance only grew stronger. We kicked off the year with the launch of Autotune Anteres, pairing Chong the Nomad with a noodle shop and some found sounds, launched two new interfaces with Dirty Revival, Campana, Parisalexa, Elan Wright, and Nima Skeemz , and continue to work on UA’s new, exciting developments in music and beyond!
We chased some really fast people….
Brooks Running was an amazing collaborator last year, and we traveled around the US filming some of the fastest runners in the game. From shoe launches to social spots to manifestos, we saddled up and took our shoots on the move.
We made a music video…
But more on that later…
We danced, we mo-graphed…
With Textio, we filled an empty office building with music, dance, words, and ideas to create a picture of the creative process. The video was choreographed by Molly Sides and starred both Molly and Markeith Wiley. We have a soft spot for working with choreographers and dancers and poets and writers and really just artists in general. Which made this project especially exciting!
We found our inner Coug…
DNA gave us a call to go deep into WSU Cougar territory. Armed with a 2-man MoVI crew courtesy of Motion State and an army of fans, we conquered the tailgate scene and helped BECU capitalize on the rabid fandom of Coug-Nation.
We got a little political…
We had to take a minute before deciding to make this video. But it only took reading literature from the CEO of Axon for us to decide. His mission is to make the bullet obsolete in law enforcement. Big dreamer? You bet. But we can get behind that.
We got emotional about the meaning of family…
It’s always emotional talking to parents about their children, but talking with parents who’ve faced challenges like cancer, infertility, and maintaining an Olympic athletic career? That’s a whole other story. We tried to keep it together with Copacino + Fujikado as we told Kikkan’s story — an incredible testament to Kikkan’s abilities as both an athlete and a mom.
And then got emotional about the meaning of retail inventory management?
We’ll say it once and we’ll say it again, we love working with actors. DNA and Catalina brought us some hilarious scripts, and we had a blast pushing them to their emotional extremes. Because who doesn't love to talk about retail inventory management on the first date?
Other people had just as much fun watching them, and the campaign was covered by online publications such as AdAge.
And finally, we appreciated this city we call home…
Did you know that beside Italy, Seattle is the biggest hub for glassblowers in the world? We didn’t when we started this project, but we’re certainly aware of it now. We met three amazing glass artists and talked to them about why they choose to create their art here.
And our hearts are so full of gratitude.
We cannot thank everyone enough for this year. To everyone who lent their talents, collaborative spirit, time, energy, jokes, conversation, and support… Happy New Year. We can’t even imagine what’s in store for 2020.
