SHRAPNEL: Solitarius Lupus
We are beyond excited to share Solitarius Lupus, a narrative short film we developed, wrote, and produced set in a world inspired by SHRAPNEL, an upcoming Extraction FPS game by NEON MACHINE. It’s the first live-action installation made in the SHRAPNEL world.
NEON MACHINE asked us to create our own interpretation of a story set in a corner of their world. This is the story we told.
SHRAPNEL: Solitarius Lupus follows a lone wolf living on the outskirts of society using their ill-gained paramilitary knowledge to make a living in the only way they know how in a harsh world run by Shrap.
The film was an entirely local production, and our crew pulled out all the stops for this one. We shot on location and built out as much of the production design as we could practically (shout out to our art team) , giving the whole film a tactile, lived-in feel.
We discovered after the fact (though definitely suspected) that shoot day 2 was Seattle’s 10th rainiest day in recorded history. It was only after wringing out our clothes and shaking off our umbrellas (just kidding, it’s the PNW who uses those?), that we realized how much of a gift that was. The resulting world was moody, dark, and ambiguous. It was perfect, and totally Shrapnel. The PNW really came through for us — the crew, the weather, and the locations all came together to create something absolutely singular.
